A lot of people love the rainy season, especially the ones who love staying indoors and just hanging out at home playing their favorite tunes. There are many benefits to the wet season, however, there are also a few negative things about it, such as insects becoming a little more prominent inside the house.

Let’s discuss how you can get rid of the pesky mosquitoes inside the house during the rainy season and when it’s actually time to call in a pest control company in Salt Lake City.

Get Rid of Standing Water

If there is one thing that mosquitoes love, it’s stagnant water. They love breeding in standing water, especially in dirty ones, which is why it is important to get rid of all the stagnant water inside and even outside of your home.

Never keep water in a tub or in a bucket for way too long. Stagnant and dirty water outside should also always be swept off. Make sure to check your pots, dust bins, and other holes outside and keep it clean at all costs.

Always Close Your Windows and Doors

Mosquitoes love humidity, which can be pretty apparent during the rainy season. Make sure to always keep your doors and windows closed at all times to keep the mosquitoes from coming in. If you want to let the air circulate inside your home, then keep your entrances and your windows screened so you can still keep the doors and windows open without having to let the flies and the mosquitoes in.

Make Use of Mosquito Repellants

Mosquito repellants can be easily bought at the supermarket. Make sure to always keep a bottle or two at home so you can always spray the air with it and keep the mosquitoes at bay. You should also get those insect repellant sprays, creams, and lotions and put them on your body whether you are inside or outside. Mosquitoes often bear viruses and diseases, and you most definitely would want to avoid getting these by protecting yourself at all costs.

Try Camphor and Natural Plants

Camphor is a great way to keep the mosquitoes out of your home, as they hate the scent of it. Keep them in a heated surface such as an oil burner, or you can even mix it in your dehumidifier.

Additionally, you can also use natural plants such as Tulsi and Citronella to repel mosquitoes at home. You can plant these in your garden or even keep them in small pots and place them inside your home. Not only will these give your home and garden a lovely scent, but it will also help keep the mosquitoes at bay.

Keep your surroundings and your home clean so you can keep the mosquitoes and flies at bay. These pests can bring dangerous diseases that you definitely would not want you or your family to catch. Good luck and enjoy the rainy season without having to worry about the pests making their way inside your lovely home!
